We discussed last time that we should always trust our guy instinct and be aware of our surroundings.  Now we will be discussing some tips on how we can avoid being targets from predators.

1. If you do find yourself in a situation where you need to call for help make sure to scream “FIRE”, instead of “Help”.  Psychology studies have shown that people are more incline to respond if they do not have to put themselves in danger.

2. Know your surroundings: be weary when walking by larger vehicles like SUV, someone could be hiding around them.  Pay attention when you first enter a building : look for cameras, blue emergency lights and most important exists.  A karate student was followed in a college parking lot and when she tried to run from her attacker, she ended up cornering herself with no escape.

3. For you “Princesses” out there, you might want to think twice before you let everyone on the road know it.  Your out at night with your friends for dinner, your having such a good time you stayed until the place closes down.  A predator noticed a car that has, “Daddy bought it, but I got it” on the license plate holder, pink fuzzy steering wheel cover that says, “Princess”, etc.  The predator will sit and watch that car and if you are driving alone, and no one walks you to your car, your chances of getting assaulted is high.

4. Do not put your name on a personalized license plate. Predators will pick up on this and call out your name to distract you.  And the trusting person that you are will turn around to look at who called out your name.  Next thing you know you are being assaulted.

Next time I will discuss the correct way to hold your house/car key as a weapon and some other tips to avoid being attacked.
